Coaches
Our Club is dependent upon the commitment and the dedication of our many volunteers. Without coaches, our teams do not run. Walkerton FC is committed to supporting our coaches, so that they can help to provide safe, fun, and effective coaching for the athletes in our club. Coach development and training is offered through Walkerton FC, and our governing bodies. Courses are reimbursed with the completion of a full season of successful coaching with WFC.
Walkerton FC has a reimbursement policy program to help our coaches get the qualifications needed for the continued growth of the game & player development.
Each season, we collaborate with Hanover Minor Soccer, West Grey Minor Soccer, and Greenwave Soccer to bring our coaches on-field training and development. These sessions are free to our registered coaches.
Walkerton FC subscribes to the Responsible Coaching Movement (RCM) is a call to action for sport organizations, parents, and coaches to enact responsible coaching across Canada – on and off the field of play.
It is mandated by Ontario Soccer Association that every team has 2 coaches, requiring more volunteers to step up and help the programs run.
Experience is NOT necessary! A variety of coaching courses are offered each year, contact the head coach via email to find out more about opportunities for you to expand your coaching knowledge. If you are interested in coaching please contact our coaching coordinator at headcoachwfc@gmail.com
COURSES
To ensure the safety of our players, all Coaches and Assistant Coaches must complete these Mandatory Requirements:
- Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
- Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders - Getting Started
- Coaching Association of Canada - Rule of Two
- Coaching Association of Canada - Making Headway in Sport

- NCCP Number
- Name
- Gender Identity
- Date of Birth
- Email Address
- Criminal Record Check Issue Date (should be within the last 3 years)
- Respect in Sport Activity Leader certificate number
- Respect in Sport Activity Leader certificate expiry date (valid for 5 years)
- Coaching Soccer in Canada online module completion date
Season coaches are invited to our Appreciation Party in September and Early Bird Registration in January.
